The Whale

The Whale takes the Drama route and wastes little time pretending life is going to remain orderly. Here, everyone carries enough emotional baggage to trigger an airline surcharge. The IMDb crowd seems broadly convinced, which is more than can be said for a lot of modern entertainment. The real question is whether the movie can keep its nerve once the setup is established — because a good premise is easy; landing the thing without driving into a hedge is the difficult bit.
